Severna Park Waterfront

Before

Before

The first course of action was drafting a new space plan and selecting all new furniture. The new arrangement separates the space into a living area and an entry/foyer. The client's love of blue, the white kitchen, and the home's waterfront setting was the inspiration for the entire scheme.

The everyday dining is both casual and sophisticated. The white furniture is warmed by the addition of natural woods and fibers. The lack of area rug makes for easy cleanup after every meal.

Texture, texture, texture! A grasscloth covered chest of drawers placed behind the loveseat was chosen for it's depth to help fill space in the expansive entry area. It's rich deep blue color is the center of attention and draws your eye to the blues throughout the space. A decorative cylinder lamp in a natural wood was added for more light without competing with the nearby table lamp.

The end tables, cocktail table, TV wall unit, and dining table are all from different manufacturers but work together beautifully and create interest.

A long tablescape was created on the dining table utilizing the same mixture of white and natural elements.

It's all in the details! Specially curated artwork, lamps and accessories are blended in with homeowner's own items like these silver candlesticks.

The perfect area rugs were selected not just for looks but for performance as well.

Bachelor's First Condo

The first course of action was to change the wall color of blue to reflect the client's request for "no coastal." A warm greige throughout and an accent of soft green on the fireplace and back wall of the dining area set the stage for a masculine earthy vibe.

The client's existing dining set and his love of the mountains help point the direction for the design of the entire condo and the selections of artwork within. The appropriate size and style chandelier became the inspiration for the lighting style throughout.

The black iron of the dining chandelier was then repeated throughout with accents like this mirror.

The proper scale of furniture was selected giving the whole space more sophistication.

As a bachelor and trained chef, the last thing the client needed was a secondary eating area, having already previously owned the dining room table. Instead, this space is now a much needed home office area and additional counter prep and storage space - still leaving the option of sitting for a quick meal. The new light fixtures and bronze cabinet hardware compliment the chandelier in the dining room.

A wood and wire wall caddy was the perfect addition to the rustic industrial style infused in the kitchen. It's great for holding herbs and other fruits and veggies for cooking.

Severna Park Family Room Re-Do

Before

The plan starts with creating a furniture layout that adds more comfortable seating and trades the existing desk for a china hutch from the neighboring kitchen. That hutch, along with the granite in the kitchen, is the jumping off point for a classic blue/orange complementary color scheme.

Although the fireplace brick may be white-washed down the road, the color as is works beautifully in the new color scheme. A new TV console is done in "driftwood" which, along with the new artwork and accessories, gives a nod to the home's proximity to the Severn River.

A swivel chair sits in a previously unused corner near the kitchen peninsula. It's melon colored herringbone fabric pulls the color of the china hutch to the opposite side of the room. The new floor lamp echos the base of the cocktail table.

New occasional tables and lamps include a copper-topped cocktail table, a trunk side table, and a rope-accented table lamp.

The view from the foyer offers a tranquil living room featuring a complimentary color scheme of a warm copper and sea blue.

The transitional furnishings and subtle coastal accessories create a less formal cozier room.

The upholstered dining chairs add to the comfortable and relaxed style. The color scheme continues in a more subdued manner.
